Loretta Lynn, in my opinion, is the greatest female singer and songwriter that country music has ever had. As far as country music is concerned she ranks up there with Hank Williams Sr. & Johnny Cash. Her record "Van Lear Rose" is a breath of fresh air. It's amazing to listen to the record and think that the woman is nearly 70 years old. Her album is the best album released in country music since Johnny Cash's "Unchained". Loretta is at the point in her career where she doesn't grant a lot of interviews but her record company let management know that it would benefit the record if Loretta appeared on the show. The interview was then granted and we decided to put together a Loretta Lynn Feature Show.
The day that I interviewed Loretta I was told by her management that I would only have twenty minutes with Loretta. When I was on the phone with Loretta we began going over the twenty minute mark and I asked her about it.. she replied in her trademark accent with, "Forget about them people! We're talking right now and we'll talk as long as we want to!". It was a great interview and the show turned out to be our best radio show to date.
